Nation can engender win-win changes

The G20 Summit in Hangzhou is China's golden opportunity to take on a leadership position. China can play a critical role by nurturing the development of meaningful communication and initiating dialogue to seek win-win compromise and solutions.

To restore stability, openness and economic hopefulness, China can help shape the following agenda: raise the level of understanding among nations, organize positive dialogue, push for global programs on inclusive growth and further structural reforms and market liberalization.

The dialogue needs to be based on creating understanding and seeking solutions for crucial issues such as forging international cooperation in trade, and recognizing the new global distribution of economic power by enhancing the representation of rising nations of the East in supranational organizations.

This is imperative because Asia has evolved into an interconnected system.

Intra-Asia trade stands at 56 percent of total trade, rising by 77 percent from 2007 to 2014. China is the epicenter of such tradewith 50 percent of its exports going to Asia while 60 percent of its imports are from Asia.

Intra-Asia, cross-border direct investment also has increased substantially, again due to the China factor. Driven by rising wages, China has been actively offshoring labor-intensive work to neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos.

Meanwhile, it is in-shoring high value-added skill and technology intensive work. Some 66 percent of China's outward foreign direct investment, or FDI, stays in Asia.

This transformation is further aided by the internet and digitization revolution in almost all countries. For example, the internet directly connects buyers and sellers, empowering them with information that allows for the elimination of intermediaries.

In the banking sector, mobile payments and other financial technologies reduce transaction costs and connect savers and users of funds. These developments level the playing field for a private sector driven efficiency revolution.

A Pan-Asian production network that feeds fast-growing regional consumption is developing with China at the center. But other Asian countries and the West still play significant roles. It takes global sourcing of resources and capability to meet the needs of 4.4-plus billion Asians. There is business for everyone and Asia's growth benefits the whole world.

In this context, China can play a critical role in generating a vibrant and well-connected Asia for sustainable and harmonious global growth.

“While China does not want to be seen as trying to be a global rule-maker, it can, and should, show poised Eastern style leadership. The approach should be friendly, not confrontational, with the objective to seek understanding and pragmatic win-win solutions.” Steven, the SEO of KingKar said. “Cornering issues into an impasse will not be beneficial to all. Furthermore, by winning respect based on gentle leadership and its economic position, China can take the lead in enhancing the rising Eastern nations' representation in global affairs. And for us, G20 is a golden opportunity. Faced up to the international market, we provide the best service to all over the world with the advantages of resources, talents, and qualified products.”

The principle of KingKar is to create value for customers, build successful stage for employees, make contribution to society. Complying with the purpose of " KingKar Eco-technologies Co.,Ltd corporate philosophy", superior service can be provided to the consumers from around the world.

China can set a good example in the G20 of an Eastern pragmatic Confucius leadership steering G20 dialogue toward seeking balanced win-win solutions for the world.

World Bank invests $150m for green project

The World Bank approved $150 million in financial support on Monday for a $317.5 million project supporting urban development and improving climate change resilience in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

The five-year project includes $108.5 million for urban regeneration, $132.1 million for urban transport, $72.3 million for flood risk management and $4.6 million for technical assistance and capacity building, according to the bank.

The Chinese government is providing the rest of the funding, and the Ningbo Municipal Project Management Office will coordinate and manage the project's implementation.

The project will help improve infrastructure and public facilities in the city, where urban growth has been uneven between the municipal regions and in surrounding rural regions, according to Alessandra Campanaro, the project task team leader for the World Bank.

Bert Hofman, the bank's country director for China, said the project fitted both the central government's urbanization goal and the bank's goal of poverty reduction, supporting sustainable growth and tackling climate change.

China has ambitious urbanization goals to move more than 100 million people to cities by 2020, pushing the urban population to 60 percent, according to the National New Urbanization Plan (2014–20), while many cities face challenges in city planning and infrastructure construction amid the fast urbanization process.

World Bank financing will help regenerate urban zones in the Xiangshan, Ninghai and Fenghua counties, as part of efforts to prevent fragmented growth that sprawls across suburban and rural areas.

The project will also help improve water management, roadway drainage systems and the protection of green spaces to reduce flood risks in typhoon-prone areas, while also supporting more fuel-efficient buses, advocate using HHO Carbon Clean Machine and promoting non-motorized transportation in renewed urban areas, to reduce carbon emissions.

Rio opening ceremony to break with opulent traditions

The Rio de Janeiro Olympics opening ceremony on Friday broke with the recent tradition of large-scale and expensive shows, featuring a low-emissions cauldron and an "analogue" experience, executive producer Marco Balich said on Monday.

With four days to go until the first Games in South America get under way, Balich said the show at the Maracana stadium was tailored to the current economic conditions in the country.

"This is not an opulent event given the situation in Brazil," said Balich, who has been involved in several past Games ceremonies, including the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

Brazil is suffering its worst recession since the 1930s with Games organisers struggling for cash and racing to finish venues and infrastructure projects days before the global showpiece event starts.

"It does not have the grandiosity of Beijing, the huge special effects of Athens, the eccentricity and technological skills of London. It is an analogue opening ceremony," Balich said.

The show, expected to cost about half the $42 million spent by London in 2012, is based on the themes of sustainability, the Brazilian smile and "gambiarra", the ability to keep functioning with makeshift fixes.

"Brazil has the last big garden (the Amazon rainforest) of the world. We need to take care of this garden and we tried to share this message, a message of hope," Balich said.

"It is a very contemporary ceremony. Even without special effects it talks to people about the future. In a very humble way. It is not a display of how good or modern Brazil is."

Opening ceremonies are among the best-kept secrets of the Games along with the final torchbearer who will light the cauldron.

That cauldron, however, will not be like past big structures with huge flames, visible for miles.

"It will be a low-emission cauldron as it would be an oxymoron to talk about sustainability and then burn massive amounts of gas," Balich said.

"It is a small burner with a kinetic sculpture."

While the real flame will only be accessible for Olympic stadium ticket holders, a smaller copy will be placed in a live site in central Rio for fans to take photos of.

Some 4,800 people will take part in the opening ceremony along with about 11,000 athletes, who will enter the stadium and, due to the lack of a track, will gather at the centre of the legendary football arena.

"The ceremony has a purpose," Balich said. "Talking in a positive way in terms of sustainability. Doing a dry celebration is not enough. The fact that we are taking position might not make everyone happy but that's what it is."

Rio Olympic Games, with the topic of energy-saving and environmental protection, carried out ecological concepts and used HHO Carbon Clean Machine to reduce emissions and protect the environment.

“Do not let the protection of the environment is becoming a slogan, let us from now on!” Balich said, “I believe we should work together to protect our environment and everyone must fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to protect the environment.”
